Astro Tech Marks 35th Anniversary with Dual-Core Strategy

2026 marks the 35th anniversary of Astro. As the global bicycle industry undergoes structural adjustments and supply chain realignment, the company is launching a strategic upgrade centered on two core pillars: deeper R&D capabilities and integrated manufacturing operations. The initiative aims to strengthen Astro’s long-term competitiveness in the global market.

Since 2024, bicycle industry has faced continued inventory correction, rising geopolitical uncertainties, and slower end-market demand. These factors have intensified price competition and increased pressure across supply chains. For manufacturers, simple capacity expansion is no longer sufficient. Lean manufacturing, technological integration, and cross-regional production allocation are becoming key factors in rebuilding competitiveness.

Fast Development × Efficient Production × Stable Quality

As part of its strategic upgrade, Astro is advancing its manufacturing system while optimizing its global footprint. The company is currently building a new smart manufacturing facility in Ho Chi Minh City. The plant is scheduled to begin operations in Q4 2026, with an annual production capacity of 800,000 bicycle frames.

Designed around lean manufacturing principles, the factory integrates automated welding, surface finishing, and painting processes while incorporating a digital management system to improve production efficiency and quality consistency. The project also aims to optimize cost structures and enhance overall market competitiveness. It’s being developed according to LEED green building standards, incorporating energy efficiency management and carbon reduction measures at the infrastructure level to embed sustainability into the company’s manufacturing foundation.

Astro is also strengthening its ESG management framework by integrating environmental protection, occupational safety, and energy efficiency into its core operational metrics. Expects to obtain ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 certifications in Q1 2026, aligning its operations with global sustainability standards.

Meanwhile, Astro’s Taiwan headquarters continues to focus on frame geometry engineering, advanced manufacturing processes, new material applications, and next-generation talent development. Astro is also strengthening vertical integration across the group, including battery systems, electronic control modules, and complete bicycle assembly resources, enabling faster product development and improved responsiveness to market changes.

Geometry Optimization x Process Standardization  Driving Manufacturing Upgrades

At Taipei Cycle 2026, Astro will introduce four manufacturing upgrades of 35-year technology.

Thermoplastic 2.0 technology has completed full testing and validation. By optimizing material distribution and strengthening frame geometry design, the process significantly improves frame stiffness and production stability. Limited samples will be available during the exhibition for brand partners to evaluate and place orders.

The next-generation Integrated Aluminum 2.0 technology has passed mass-production testing and is ready for stable commercial orders. The process enhances structural performance while improving manufacturing efficiency.

As part of smart integration strategy, Astro Tech has also initiated a collaboration with French IoT company Velco. Smart modules will be pre-integrated into frame structures during early-stage product development, enabling greater flexibility for hardware and software applications and supporting the development of connected bicycle platforms.

In addition, Astro has upgraded its surface finishing process, implementing standardized workflows to improve aluminum frame consistency and surface quality. By combining proprietary paint designs with automated coating systems, improving quality stability, production efficiency, and product differentiation.

A New Phase Beyond 35 Years

35th anniversary represents not only a significant moment in the Astro’s development but also the starting point for its next phase of growth. By advancing R&D and strengthening integrated manufacturing capabilities, the company aims to maintain a sustainable balance between quality, efficiency, and cost while delivering competitive manufacturing solutions to global bicycle brands.
