SRAM Taiwan’s New Facility Progresses Smoothly, Paving the Way for a New Milestone in Green and Sustainable Development

Global cycling components manufacturer SRAM, the second-largest in the world, held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new STC (SRAM Taiwan Center) facility in Tanzi, Taichung, in September 2023. The ceremony was attended by government officials and local dignitaries, marking a significant milestone in SRAM’s expansion plan in Taiwan. After numerous negotiations and meetings with the landowner, construction teams, and government agencies, work on the new facility officially began in August this year, with land leveling and excavation now underway.

To showcase the continued progress of SRAM’s investment in Taiwan during the globally significant Taichung Bike Week, SRAM will host a special event at its exhibition booth. Attendees will be introduced to the latest development plans and progress through architectural models and video presentations. The new facility is expected to be completed within 24 months and will drive substantial growth in the central Taiwan region. Once finished, the three existing manufacturing plants, warehouse, and Development center in Taiwan will be consolidated into the SRAM Taiwan Center (STC), solidifying SRAM’s position in the global bicycle component supply chain and significantly enhancing the capabilities of key component production in the region.

SRAM’s new facility plan is built upon four strategic pillars: One-Stop Shopping, All Function in One Building, World-Class Value Stream, and Sustainability . These pillars not only support the full integration of product development and production processes but also demonstrate SRAM’s commitment to the health industry and sustainable development. The new facility is expected to achieve Green Building Certification, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Spanning 32,000 ping (approximately 105,000 square meters), this state-of-the-art facility will provide SRAM with more than 30% additional operational space in Taiwan. The facility is designed to optimize production processes, ensure product quality, and enhance efficiency, thus reinforcing SRAM’s competitive advantage in the global market. Once completed, the new facility will integrate the current operations and functions from various SRAM locations in Taichung, further strengthening Taiwan’s role in the global bicycle industry supply chain.

As construction on the new facility advances, SRAM remains focused on driving product innovation and breakthroughs in manufacturing technologies. Through its green building design, the company will continue to meet global sustainability goals, reinforcing its position as a world leader in bicycle components. The facility’s design aims to boost productivity and maximize efficiency, while also generating more local job opportunities and stimulating regional economic development.
